Willow dome haircut

Yesterday I spent the day giving a willow dome its annual trim.

Here it is to begin with. The willow has grown about 10ft this year. Almost all the growth is from rods which run near horizontal. That’s why most of the growth is sprouting from the top of the dome and tunnel.

Finished. We do this once a year, else the willow rods have a tendency to grow into trees. We don’t do many willow domes, perhaps one or two new each winter, but they are great fun to do and make a change from the workshop.
